This book was so delightful – spiky and magical and dangerous. I loved everything about it. The plot kept twisting, the characters felt real, and the writing was superb.
Things I liked the most:
1 – The world: I love the sense of magic, madness, and danger.
2 – Scarlett’s motivation: She has a very real reason to be moving through the plot. It never felt forced or boring.
3 – True or False: I love how secrets and lies played into this world. I wasn’t sure if any character was telling the truth or lying. It gave off such a sense of uncertainty.
4 – Legend: I love how we heard about this character and hear about this character and he doesn’t ever show up. I love how much lore and danger and mystery as been built up around him.
This book is a MUST for fantasy readers. Unless you hate romance in your fantasy, then you might not want to pick it up.
Overall, Caraval gets a 5 out of 5 for me.
