So, 2020 wasn’t all that bad. I got some reviews. I sold some books.
I also started getting stress headaches and drinking more, but you know. Can’t have it all.
I would love to make the 2021 goal of getting to 100 reviews, but that seems so…hard. I don’t know where to even start. I’ve been sending emails to every book blogger that reads fantasy, but it’s like trying to catch fish by throwing rocks.
It feels like I’m querying again, desperately trying to get someone to take a second look my books. I get it, we’re all busy people trying to stay sane.
So when I get another review or rating, I get this tizzy of excitement.
Next stop NYE Bestseller, right?
Congrats! 🎉

The best way to get the reviews up to 100 is to drop the price to $0.99 or free and put it into an online sale (my personal favorite places are Prolific Works, Book Rebel, and Story Origin). Or you could try Book Sprout again. The thing is $4.99 is a high price for people who haven’t read your books before. Most everyone usually lists their second books in a series at $2.99.

I don’t have control over the prices of this book, my publisher does. I’d love to throw free copies at as many people as possible, but I can’t.

Further thought. If you sign up for Prolific Works (StoryOrigin too), basically it’s putting your book up for free, and when the people click to get your book, it signs them up to your author newsletter. So, for Prolific Works, I would recommend making an e-mail newsletter first (they recommend Mail Chimp) and using Prolific Works to build the fanbase. Then, I would put out a call on the newsletter for reviews. And you can put out a call for ARC readers, too and build a group of ARC reviewers.
